Frequently Asked Questions

What does the strategy analyzer do?

The strategy analyzer uses AI vision to extract trading rules from your chart screenshots. Upload a TradingView or broker platform screenshot showing your indicators, entry/exit markers, or annotated setup, and the AI identifies the strategy type, entry conditions, exit rules, risk management parameters, and gives a backtestability score. It turns visual chart patterns into structured, testable trading rules.

How accurate is the AI analysis?

The AI provides a best-effort interpretation based on visible indicators, price action patterns, and annotations on your chart. It is not 100% accurate -- it cannot read your mind about why you took a trade. It works best with clearly annotated charts that show indicator values, entry/exit arrows, and stop loss/take profit levels. Always review the extracted rules and adjust them to match your actual strategy before using them for compliance auditing.

What image formats are supported?

The strategy analyzer accepts PNG, JPG/JPEG, and WebP image formats. For best results, use a full-resolution screenshot (not a cropped thumbnail) that clearly shows the price chart, indicators, and any annotations. TradingView screenshots work especially well because they include indicator names and values in the chart overlay. Maximum file size is 10MB.

Is my chart screenshot stored?

Chart screenshots are processed by the AI model for analysis and are not permanently stored on Vigil servers. The extracted strategy rules and analysis results are saved to your account if you are logged in, but the original image is not retained after processing. If you are not logged in, nothing is saved at all -- the analysis is ephemeral.

Can I generate Pine Script from my strategy?

Yes. After the AI analyzes your chart and extracts the trading rules, you can generate Pine Script code for TradingView backtesting. The generated script includes entry conditions, exit logic, and basic risk parameters based on the identified strategy. Note that the generated code is a starting point -- you should review and refine it to match your exact trading logic before running backtests.

What trading strategies work best with prop firms?

Strategies with clear, rule-based entry and exit conditions perform best at prop firms because they produce consistent results and avoid emotional trading. Mean reversion strategies on lower timeframes, breakout strategies with defined invalidation levels, and trend-following with trailing stops all work well. The key factor is not the strategy type but whether you can define it as explicit rules and follow those rules consistently. Discretionary strategies with vague criteria lead to rule violations.
