FTMO's daily loss limit is 5% of your equity (including open positions).
Daily loss limits by account size:
- -$10,000: $500 daily limit (5%)
- -$25,000: $1,250 daily limit (5%)
- -$50,000: $2,500 daily limit (5%)
- -$100,000: $5,000 daily limit (5%)
- -$200,000: $10,000 daily limit (5%)
The daily loss limit resets each trading day. If you lose $500 on the $10,000 account in a single day, your account is terminated immediately -- regardless of your overall P&L or distance from max drawdown.
Important: the daily limit is calculated from EQUITY, not balance. This means floating (unrealized) losses count against you even before you close the trade. An open position that moves against you can trigger the daily limit without you closing the trade.
The daily loss limit is the #1 cause of account termination on FTMO. Most breaches happen from: 1. Oversizing a single position 2. Revenge trading after morning losses 3. Not accounting for spread/commission in the loss calculation
