What Is Vigil?
Vigil is an AI-powered trade rule compliance tool built for prop firm traders. You upload a chart screenshot, and the AI checks whether your trade followed or violated your trading rules -- including firm-specific rules from FTMO, TopStep, Apex, The5%ers, FundedNext, and 15+ other firms.
94% of prop firm traders fail from breaking rules, not from bad strategy. Vigil exists to prevent that.
- Prop firm traders on any major firm (FTMO, TopStep, Apex, The5%ers, FundedNext, MyFundedFX, and more)
- Traders in challenge phases or funded accounts
- Anyone who wants an objective, AI-driven check on whether they followed their own rules

- 2.Personalize Vigil with your prop firm, account size, and trading rules
- 3.Finish onboarding, then upload your first real chart screenshot on the Audit page

Onboarding Wizard
When you first sign in, Vigil walks you through a 5-step onboarding wizard at /dashboard/onboarding. The flow is value-first: you see a starter compliance result first, then personalize Vigil before you enter the dashboard.
The first screen gives you a fast starter audit using a short demo checklist. Enter basic trade details such as symbol, direction, entry, exit, and optional stop loss. You can also attach a screenshot for context.
This step is intentionally lightweight. It is meant to show how Vigil thinks before your real prop-firm rules are loaded.
Click Continue to proceed.
A grid of firm cards appears, each showing the firm's abbreviation and name. Click the card for your firm. Supported firms include FTMO, TopStep, Apex, The5%ers, FundedNext, MyFundedFX, and many more.
If your firm is not listed, click the "Other" card and type your firm name in the text field that appears.
For recognized firms, Vigil shows the actual account sizes available at that firm (e.g., USD 25,000 / USD 50,000 / USD 100,000 / USD 200,000). Click the card matching your account.
Below the account sizes, select your current phase using the radio buttons:
- Challenge Phase 1
- Challenge Phase 2
- Funded
- (Firm-specific phases may vary)
For custom firms, you enter the account size manually and select from generic phase options.
Click Continue to proceed.
Vigil pre-loads rules based on your selected firm, account size, and phase. These include:
- Maximum daily loss (actual dollar amount from your firm's rules)
- Maximum total loss / drawdown
- Profit target (if applicable)
- News trading restrictions
- Weekend and overnight holding rules
Each rule has a category dropdown (Entry, Exit, Risk, Timing, Indicator) and a text field. You can:
- Edit any pre-loaded rule by changing its text
- Delete a rule by clicking the trash icon
- Add a new rule by clicking "Add rule"
When you are satisfied with your rules, click Continue.
Tip: Your rules are saved to both localStorage (for the audit page) and to the Supabase database (for persistent tracking). You can edit them later from the audit page.
Vigil compares the small starter checklist from Step 1 with your personalized rule set. This screen shows:
- How many rules were in the starter demo
- How many real rules are now loaded for your setup
- A preview of the first personalized rules Vigil will check on your next real audit
This step does not pretend a second AI audit already happened. It is a coverage preview so you can see what changed before auditing a real trade.
The final step lets you choose how you want to log trades going forward:
- Broker sync
- Messaging platforms such as Telegram, Discord, WhatsApp, or email
- Manual logging only
You can skip this step and configure connections later from the dashboard.
Dashboard
URL: /dashboard
The dashboard is the central hub after signing in. It displays your trading compliance data across several panels, organized in a grid layout.
The top bar shows:
- Page title: "DASHBOARD"
- Account summary: Your firm name, account size (with currency), and current phase (e.g., "FTMO -- 100,000 USD -- Challenge Phase 1")
- Action buttons: "Import Trades" (goes to CSV import), "Audit a Trade" (goes to audit page), and "Sign out"
The dashboard is composed of six main sections, each loaded with your real data:
Shows your firm name, account size, challenge phase, daily loss limit, and maximum drawdown. This gives you an at-a-glance view of where you stand against your firm's thresholds.
| Left (60%) | Right (40%) |
|---|---|
| Today's Trades: Lists all trades audited today with symbol, direction (LONG/SHORT), time, compliance score, and pass/fail status. Each trade expands to show per-rule verdicts. | Position Calculator: A quick tool to calculate position sizing based on your remaining daily loss budget. |
| Left (60%) | Right (40%) |
|---|---|
| Weekly Compliance Chart: A bar chart showing your compliance scores for the last 7 trading days (Mon-Sun). | Compliance Stats: Total trades audited, weekly trends (last 4 weeks), this week vs. last week average, and a breakdown of your most-followed and most-violated rules. |
A 30-day heatmap showing your audit streak. Each day is color-coded:
- Green: Audited day with compliance >= 60%
- Red: Audited day with compliance < 60%
- Gray: No trades / inactive
Your current streak count and longest streak are displayed above the heatmap.
A monthly calendar view. Each day cell is shaded based on your compliance score for that day. Click any day to see the individual trades taken on that date, with symbol, direction, and compliance score.
Use the arrow buttons to navigate between months.
Analyzes your rule verdicts to show which rules you follow most consistently and which you violate most often. Helps you identify patterns in your rule-breaking behavior.

Trailing Drawdown Simulator (Free Tool)
URL: /tools/trailing-drawdown-simulator
A free calculator showing how trailing drawdown rules work at different prop firms.
Trailing drawdown is one of the most misunderstood rules in prop trading. This simulator lets you:
- 1.Enter your account size and drawdown parameters
- 2.Add daily P&L entries (positive or negative)
- 3.Watch the trailing drawdown floor move in real time
- 4.See exactly how much buffer you have left
- 1.Set your starting parameters (account size, drawdown amount)
- 2.Add daily P&L values one at a time
- 3.The simulator recalculates the drawdown floor after each entry
- 4.A visual chart shows your equity curve alongside the drawdown floor
This tool helps you understand how firms like TopStep, Apex, and FTMO calculate trailing drawdown before you risk real money.
At the bottom of the simulator page, a callout encourages you to try Vigil's full audit features:
"Track your real drawdown with AI compliance audits. Upload your actual trades. Vigil checks them against your firm's drawdown rules and flags violations before they cost you your account."

Troubleshooting
What it means: You are not logged in, or your session has expired.
How to fix: Click "Go to Sign In" or navigate to /login. Sign in again with Google or magic link.
What it means: Your chart screenshot is too small. Vigil needs at least 800x600 pixels to reliably read chart data.
How to fix: Take a larger screenshot. On most platforms, use the full browser window or increase your chart size before capturing.
What it means: Your image file is too large.
How to fix: Compress the image or save it as JPEG instead of PNG. Most chart screenshots compress well as JPEG.
What it means: You tried to upload an unsupported file format (e.g., GIF, BMP, TIFF, PDF).
How to fix: Save your chart as PNG, JPG, or WebP before uploading.
What it means: The AI could not confidently determine whether rules were followed or violated based on the screenshot.
How to fix:
- Ensure your screenshot clearly shows entry/exit markers, stop loss levels, and relevant indicators
- Fill in all trade detail fields (symbol, direction, entry/exit prices, stop loss)
- Use a clean, uncluttered chart view
What it means: Your profile has a firm ID that does not match any known firm.
How to fix: Navigate to /dashboard/onboarding and complete the setup wizard again.
What it means: You have not audited any trades for the selected month.
How to fix: Run audits on your trades. Each audited trade automatically populates the calendar and compliance tracking data.
What it means: The magic link email may be delayed or filtered.
How to fix:
- 1.Check your spam/junk folder
- 2.Wait 2-3 minutes (email delivery can be slow)
- 3.Try again with "Use a different email" if needed
- 4.Use Google sign-in as an alternative
What it means: You have used all your monthly audits (3 for Free, 50 for Pro).
How to fix: Upgrade to Pro for 50 audits/month, or wait until the next calendar month when your limit resets.
